Geese Trail ("Gänseweg") in Blieskastel

pictures

description

brief description:

The so-called geese trail is a hiking path which leads through gorgeous stretches of nature and gives insights into the rich and varied cultural history of the Bliesgau region: the historic Mimbach Mill, the baroque Church of Christ, Ottilie’s Well near the Kirchheimer Höfe, which was a sort of wishing well, a place of pilgrimage for women who wanted to get pregnant. The trail also leads past the so-called Duppstein, a bizarre travertine rock formation, and a historic brewery cellar in the town of Walsheim, before ending in the charming baroque town of Blieskastel.
