brief description:

Near the town gate Porte de France, in a building which once used to house a military bakery, you can find the Musée Municipal des Émaux. The three-storey building is endowed with massive buttresses and a shaft on each of the building%u2019s four corners. The highest part of the facade facing Rue Aristide Briand is adorned with a cartouche inscribed with the year 1753 and decorated with a salamander and bakery utensils. In the cross-vaulted basement there is a cistern, which was used to catch and store rainwater. On the barrel-vaulted ground floor are two large rooms in which the bread making facilities were set up. Flour was stored on this floor, while grain was stored in the attic, under the roof.
