brief description: 

situated on Saarbrücken's Beethovenplatz, the synagogue was inaugurated in 1951, a few months after the Jewish community had re-established itself in the Saarland following WW II. The original synagogue, built following designs by local architect Friedrich Mertz and inaugurated in 1890, had fallen prey to destruction during Crystal Night or the Night of Broken Glass - Reichskristallnacht on November 9, 1938

car: 
coming from Saarbrücken on the A620 motorway, take the Wilhelm-Heinrich-Brücke and follow the Stengelstraße (direction City). After approx. 500m, turn left onto Großherzog-Friedrich-Straße and, after another 100 m, take an immediate right onto Dudweilerstraße. After approx. 150 m, turn left onto Kaiserstraße. You will reach a small intersection after approx. 100m, at which you will turn left onto Sulzbachstraße. After approx. 50 m, take another left onto Lortzingstraße. You will see the synagogue after approx. 90 m on your right hand side
