Typewriter repair shop

description

brief description:

This typewriter repair shop was founded in 1927 by Richard Kiefer and has been continued as a small family-run business by his granddaughter Eveline. The location of the shop changed a few times. In 2003, it settled into a former farm house near Saarlouis. In this digital age, typewriters are seen as antiquated instruments, and finding someone to repair them is quite a challenge. Eveline Theobald is a certified typewriter engineer with all the required credentials and expertise, the creative and improvisational skills, the love for her craft and, of course, an extensive spare part storage and specialised equipment (e.g. lathe with freewheeling transmission) to get even vintage and obsolete machines up and running again. The beautifully restored former farm house has 3 storeys which are connected by open stairs. From the ground floor, with its showroom for repaired and refurbished typewriters, you can see all the way to the top floor with repair shop and storage under the roof.
